Libyan revolutionaries have blocked Egypt's Salloum land port to prevent cars and trucks from passing through, saying they are thwarting illegal immigration to the country as well as the smuggling of food.

A group that calls itself Thowar Musaid, or "Revolutionaries of Musaid," a town in Butnan District in eastern Libya, has claimed responsibility for the action. They said in a statement that they aim at maintaining law and order, protecting Libya and honouring their martyrs.

The group said that expired food and medicine is being smuggled into Libya by Libyans and Egyptians alike.
