Egyptian MP Said El-Aboudy has died at the age of 55 from a heart attack, according to local media reports.
El-Aboudy held an individual seat representing a district in the northern governorate of Sharqiya, and was also a member of the House of Representatives’ legislative and constitutional affairs committee.
Under Egypt's parliamentary elections law, a byelection should be held if a seat becomes vacant six months before the end of the MP’s term.
The five-year parliamentary term ends in January 2021 and therefore no byelection is expected.
The 596-seat assembly includes 448 MPs elected through the individual candidacy system, 120 MPs elected through the closed party list system, and 28 others appointed by the president.
