Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly
Egypt has said that some travellers wishing to enter the country are now required to present a negative PCR lab test result certificate for the coronavirus.
According to a statement issued by the cabinet on Thursday, the test result should be dated within 72 hours of the person’s arrival.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly’s decision does not apply to Arab and foreign tourists who arrive by direct flight to the airports of Sharm El-Sheikh, Taba, Hurghada, Marsa Alam, and Marsa Matrouh.
However, it prohibits the transportation of these tourists from the above-mentioned governorates to the rest of Egypt, unless they have a PCR certificate showing a negative result issued no more than 72 hours prior to the journey.
Egypt reopened its airports to international flights on July 1, having closed them in March in the wake of the pandemic.
The tourism industry is a vital source of foreign currency for the country.
