The Egyptian Doctors Syndicate announced on Monday that it has disbursed EGP 71 million to support 3,586 doctors who have been infected by the coronavirus since February.
The syndicate added that it also disbursed EGP 5 million to support the families of the doctors who died of COVID-19.
According to the statement, 58 families of doctors who died of coronavirus received financial support from the Medical Professions Union equal to EGP 2.9 million and 47 families received a total of EGP 2.35 million from the doctors support fund.
According to the Doctors Syndicate, 188 doctors, including retired doctors, have passed away in Egypt due to coronavirus.
Egypt has so far reported 105,424 COVID-19 cases, including 98,247 fully recovered patients and 6,120 fatalities.
