Egypt reported 275 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, bringing the total infection tally to 111,284 since the outbreak began in February.

The health ministry also reported 16 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 6,481.

The statement said that 109 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 101,288.

This is the fourteenth consecutive day for the health ministry to register coronavirus infections more than the 200 cases after three months of a low and steady infection rate hovering around the 100-150 mark.

Egypt has urged caution in anticipation of any spike leading to a second wave, especially with the resurgence in cases of the coronavirus and lockdowns in many European countries with the advent of autumn.

However, Egypt said it will not reinstate a full or partial lockdown if coronavirus infections spike.
