Egypt's Sisi urges speeding up plans for manufacturing clean-fuel vehicles

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi gave his directives to the government on Saturday to speed up the executive steps needed to support the domestic manufacturing of vehicles that use clean and unconventional energy sources, the Egyptian Presidency said.

According to the statement of the Egyptian Presidency, El-Sisi gave his directives during a meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, presidential aide for national and strategic projects, the governor of the Central Bank of Egypt, the ministers of petroleum and mineral resources, public business sector, trade and industry and military production as well as the head of the Arab Organization for Industrialization

The meeting discussed the main points of a national strategy on the local manufacturing of clean-fuel vehicles.

It also addressed the main aspects of the strategy, such as creating the basic necessary infrastructure and an enabling legislative environment, providing relevant investment stimulants and adopting the mechanisms necessary for encouraging citizens to convert their cars into NGVs.

The meeting also tackled aspects of another national project to covert diesel and petrol cars into electric of natural gas vehicles (NGVs) to cope with new technological advances in the global auto industry and protect the environment.

Relevant examples of some countries' experience in this regard have been discussed during the meeting to benefit from it, the presidency added.
