Egypt FM Shoukry heads to Riyadh to chair Egyptian-Saudi political consultation committee

Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry travelled to Riyadh on Tuesday morning to chair the Egyptian-Saudi political consultation committee, along with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud.

The committee's meeting on Tuesday will see "in-depth dialogue between the two brotherly countries around growing challenges witnessed by the regional and international issues of concern to the two sides," a statement by the Egyptian foreign ministry read.

The committee meeting also underscores "mutual solidarity between Egypt and Saudi Arabia in the face of threats to their security and stability and to Arab national security in general."

Shoukry and his Saudi counterpart are set to discuss means of boosting bilateral cooperation during the coming period, as per the directives of the two countries' political leaders.

The committee meeting comes a day after coordination meetings were held between high officials from both countries and were also attended by the foreign ministers' assistants.
