The Egyptian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday it continued to closely follow up the piracy incident against a cargo ship that was carrying Egyptian nationals off the Nigerian coasts and was attacked and hijacked by a group of pirates
In a press statement on Thursday, Assistant Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Amr Mahmoud Abbas said he maintained constant contacts with the Egyptian ambassador in Abuja to follow up all developments of the incident.
The ministry contacted the owner of the shipping company chartering the cargo vessel who said that he received a telephone call from the hijackers on Wednesday morning, adding that they let him talk with the kidnapped who are all in good health, the statement read.
