An Egyptian security and diplomatic delegation has arrived at Mitiga International Airport in Libya’s capital Tripoli, Al-Arabiya Breaking reported.

The delegation includes an assistant to the foreign minister and the deputy chief of the General Intelligence Service (GIS).

According to Libyan reports, the delegation will meet with leaders from the Government of National Accord (GNA) led by Fayez El-Sarraj.

The visit comes a week after GIS chief Abbas Kamel visited Benghazi, where he held a meeting with the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar and Libyan House Speaker Aguila Saleh.

During his visit, he conveyed a message from President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi to the Libyan people expressing Egypt’s support on various military and political levels.

The visit also comes a day after Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar travelled to Libya in an unscheduled visit, flanked by top military officers, Anadolu news agency reported.

The visit came after Libyan Commander Haftar called on the LNA to "drive out" Turkish forces supporting the UN-backed GNA.
