The Egyptian Foreign Ministry strongly condemned the latest Houthi attack on Jazan governorate in Saudi Arabia, affirming Cairo's support to the kingdom against terrorism.
The "Egyptian government and people reiterate that they stand by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the face of brutal terrorism and its supporters,” a statement by the foreign ministry read.
A man and two children were wounded on Sunday as a projectile fell inside the border village of Al-Ardha in Jazan governorate in southwestern Saudi Arabia, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
One of the three wounded in the attack remains in a critical condition, added Mohammed Al-Samghan, deputy media spokesperson for the civil defense directorate in Jazan.
The statement also voiced support to measures taken by the kingdom to preserve its security and stability and protect its citizens against “such cowardly and despicable” attacks.
The statement also wished the Saudi people wounded in the incident a speedy recovery.
In the last few years, Saudi Arabia has intercepted hundreds of projectiles launched by the Houthis, accusing the Iran-backed group of targeting civilian areas.
