Egypt’s Sisi congratulates handball team for qualifying for World Championship quarterfinal

Egypt’s President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi congratulated the national handball team on Sunday for qualifying for the World Championship quarterfinal, stressing his support of all sports events in Egypt.

Egypt’s team are now on top of their main-round group with seven points after staging a comeback to draw 25-25 with Slovenia in an exciting match in Cairo on Sunday.

“I congratulate my sons of the national handball team for their well-deserved advance to the quarterfinals and [for their] honourable performance,” El-Sisi said in a tweet.

“I also affirm my pride and continuous support of all honourable Egyptian sports models and all sports activities in Egypt as one of the most important pillars of human development,” the president added.

“I also reiterate my welcome to all participating sports delegations, wishing our national team success in making a new sporting achievement,” El-Sisi said.

The 27th Men’s Handball World Championship is seeing the participation of 32 teams. It is being held from 13 to 31 January.
