Egypt reports 632 new coronavirus cases, 51 deaths on Monday

The presidential health advisor said on Monday evening that Egypt has passed the peak of the pandemic's second wave

Egypt reported 623 new coronavirus cases on Monday, bringing the total infection tally to 178,774 since the outbreak began in February.

The health ministry also reported 51 new deaths, bringing the total number of deaths from the virus to 10,404.

The statement said that 346 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 138,183.

Health Affairs Presidential Advisor Mohamed Awad Tag El-Din told the media on Monday evening that Egypt has passed the peak of the second wave of coronavirus that hit the country starting December.

Tag El-Din said the rate of infections has declined thanks to the measures introduced by the state, while asserting that all safety measures should be maintained in the coming period.
