Prosecutor-General Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud ordered the formation of a medical committee of specialised doctors, Wednesday, to monitor ousted president Hosni Mubarak's health condition, which has reportedly deteriorated since his incarceration in Tora Prison hospital.
Official sources told Ahram Online, Wednesday, that attending doctors diagnosed Mubarak with breathing difficulties after a nervous breakdown as he started his life sentence on 2 June. Mubarak and his ex-minister of interior Habib El-Adly were jailed for participating in the crime of killing protesters during the 18-day uprising last year.
The ousted president's critical condition prompted calls from his wife, former first lady Suzanne Mubarak, to have him transferred to a more equipped hospital.
Farid El-Dib, the defendant's lawyer, asked the prosecutor-general to instigate his client's transfer to the International Medical Centre or to the military hospital in Maadi, where Mubarak was imprisoned during the trial.
