President Mohamed Morsi has travelled to Saudi Arabia, using the plane of former president Hosni Mubarak, on his first trip out of the country since his inauguration on 30 June.

The Airbus A340, which cost $275.4 million, has not been used since the January 25 Revolution

Morsi was invited to Saudi Arabia by King Abdullah to discuss diplomatic relations and possible future cooperation between the two countries.

During his visit, Morsi will perform the Umrah pilgrimage, then head to Madina on Thursday, where he will visit the Mosque of the Prophet before returning to Cairo.
