Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi met with General James Mattis, commander of the US Central Command, in Cairo on Wednesday to discuss regional and global changes.
They discussed enhancing military relations between Egypt and the United States through cooperation and the exchange of experts in various fields.
Mattis also met with the military council's Chief of Staff Sami Anan to talk about issues that concern the armed forces of both countries.
Egypt receives around $1.3 billion annually from the US, mostly military aid.
