Cairo Airport expects hundreds of Palestinians from various destinations Sunday, taking advantage of the Rafah border crossing being open for another day

Cairo Airport authorities received new instructions Sunday to continue receiving Palestinians coming from various parts of the world for the next 24 hours as the Rafah border crossing remains open for another day.

General Magdy Salma, manager of passports at Cairo Airport, underlined the existence of full coordination between Cairo Airport authorities and the Palestinian embassy in Cairo on the matter.

Last Sunday, attacks by unknown assailants on Egyptian border guards in the turmoil-hit Sinai left at least 16 dead and seven injured, which led to Rafah closing on the Egyptian side. Later, Egyptian authorities decided to open the border for three days to allow Palestinians to return to Gaza.
