Relatives of protesters killed in the Suez governorate during last year's revolution plan to hold a sit-in in front of the governor's office on Wednesday to protest President Mohamed Morsi's Tuesday decision to replace Suez Governor Mohamed Hashem as part of a wider reshuffle including ten regional governors.
Ali Geneidy, a spokesman for slain protesters' families in Suez, told Egypt's official news agency MENA that Hashem had succeeded in bringing stability back to the governorate and promoted its development.
Geneidy also accused Muslim Brotherhood members in Suez of standing behind Hashem's dismissal. According to Geneidy, senior Brotherhood figures in Suez had recently instigated a rumour that Hashem was about to be sacked.
The new governor of Suez, Samir Aglan, is a former police general.
Morsi's recent reshuffle of governors will affect ten out of Egypt's 27 governorates.
