Forbes Middle East, a leading international source for business news, named Al-Ahram websites as the most popular online news outlets in the Arab world.

The magazine relied on Google Analytics to flesh out a study that encompassed almost 41 Arabic and English websites and their ability to attract new readers.

The study was based on a one-year time span, from 31 August 2011 to 31 August 2012.

The Egyptian website Al-Youm Al-Sabeaa came second, with Gulf News coming third.

Al-Ahram's web-based publications include Ahram Online and the sister Ahram Arabic news website.
