Yasser Ali, presidential spokesperson, announced Wednesday that President Morsi’s aide for foreign affairs, Essam Haddad, is currently on a two-day visit to the UAE to deliver a message to Sheikh Khalifa, UAE head of state.
Ali added that Haddad would visit officials in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
According to informed sources, Haddad is accompanied with Khaled Kazaz, the president’s secretary, and Rafaat Shehata, the head of Egyptian General Intelligence.
Hadded’s visit to the UAE comes at a time that the Gulf State announced the arrest of an alleged Muslim Brotherhood cell working against the Emirati government. The alleged cell includes a number of Egyptians working in the UAE for many years.
Haddad, a senior member of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Guidance Bureau is expected to discuss the case during his visit.
In other news, Egypt officially requested to Saudi Arabia, through the Egyptian ambassador, that the maximum number of Egyptian prisoners be included in the upcoming royal pardon.
According to estimations there are 1000 Egyptian prisoners in the kingdom. The royal pardon does not cover cases of murder.
