Parliamentary electoral procedures will begin on 25 February, announced Presidential Spokesperson Yasser Ali at a press conference on Wednesday.

Ali stated that the decision comes in accordance with the newly ratified constitution, which states that electoral procedures for parliament should begin two months after the approval of the national charter, passed by 63.8 per cent in a national referendum in late December 2012.

Ali stressed a date for parliamentary elections has yet to be decided. His statements were made in response to rumours that the elections will take place in April.
