Cairo University: No more police on campus and other big changes

The head of Cairo U reveals they will remove ministry of interior guards in accordance with court ruling, give contracts to temps, raises to certain employees and denies spending LE6m on Suzanne Mubarak reception

Hossam Kamel, head of Cairo University, confirmed that in accordance with the court’s ruling, ministry of interior university police will no longer be present on campus and, instead, the university will have its own security. Kamel announced at a press conference on Saturday.

He added that all 5500 temporary employees have been given permanent contracts and that wages have been increased.

Kamel denied that the university spent LE6m on the doctoral dissertation reception of Suzanne Mubarak, wife of overthrown president, Hosni Mubarak.
