A building of three floors partially collapsed in Cairo’s district of Al-Daher, no casualties have yet been reported but searches for bodies are still ongoing.
One car was damaged as a result of the collapse.
Egypt has seen a number of construction disasters over the past few decades, partly owing to building violations or bad maintenance.
In 2008, at least 11 people were killed in Alexandria after a four-storey building collapsed at night while residents were asleep.
A similar collapse in July 2012 killed at least nine people, and in October that year, another four were killed.
Last January, at least 28 were killed in a building collapse in Alexandria.
