Ex-President Mubarak is to be brought to Cairo to face charges of corruption

Sources close to the office of the Prosecutor General told Ahram Online that former President Hosni Mubarak is to be brought back to Cairo next week, for questioning in connection with a host of charges of corruption.

The source said the Prosecutor General will release a statement in this regard within hours. He added that the prosecutor general is treating the charges against Mubarak "with all seriousness", indicating that the ex-president enjoys no immunity, and may well be referred for trial. If convicted, Mubarak would be sent to prison, the source said.
