Armed forces spokesman claims military helicopter near the south of the country was not downed intentionally

Armed forces spokesman General Ahmed Mohamed Ali denied on Sunday reports that an Egyptian military helicopter had been intentionally downed, claiming that the aircraft was forced to make an emergency landing as the result of a sudden malfunction.

Ali stated on his official Facebook page that on Saturday evening a military helicopter suffered a sudden malfunction in East Oweinat area, near the Al-Wadi Al-Gadid governorate in southwest Egypt. The plane was doing routine surveillance to secure the border terrain at the south of the country.

Ali said that there were no casualties in the accident, and no damages to the helicopter following its landing.
