Egyptian security forces have denied reports that a church in Alexandria was targeted by gunfire on Wednesday, state news agency MENA reports.
Gunfire was heard by worshippers at a church in the Gianaclis district of Alexandria during dawn prayers on Wednesday.
Police exchanged fire with the occupants of a stolen car, a security source told MENA. A bullet hit a nearby building and another struck the church wall.
The suspects escaped and are being tracked by police, the source added.
