The case against Ahmed Gadhaf Al-Dam, a close aide of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, has been adjourned by an Egyptian Criminal Court to 15 May.
Al-Dam was arrested in Zamalek (an upscale Cairo neighbourhood) on charges of possessing unlicensed weapons and illegal surveillance devices, resisting arrest and attempting to murder police officers. He also faces corruption charges.
Gadhaf Al-Dam denies he attempted to kill the police officers who arrested him and claims he did not own the weapons and wireless devices found in his apartment, where he was arrested, along with other former Gaddafi regime members.
Tripoli has demanded Al-Dam be extradited to Libya, but an Egyptian administrative court recently ruled against the move after Al-Dam's lawyer presented documents showing his client was an Egyptian national who had requested political asylum.
