Marshal Osama El-Gendy, head of Egypt's naval forces, departed Cairo on Monday for China at the head of a military delegation.
He is expected to confer with his Chinese counterparts about possible military cooperation between the two countries.
Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi visited China last August shortly after assuming the presidency.
While in China, Morsi and his Chinese interlocutors discussed Egyptian-Chinese economic and political relations and announced a number of joint development projects between the two countries.
