Prosecutors are still investigating complaints filed against former president Mohamed Morsi and are yet to question him, a source at the prosecution office has told Ahram Online.
A judicial source had told AFP on Sunday that investigators had started questioning Morsi and members of his Muslim Brotherhood earlier in the day over their involvement in a 2011 prison break.
Ahram Online's source said Morsi faces allegations over a 2011 prison break, inciting the killing of peaceful demonstrators, spying and insulting the judiciary.
Morsi is being held in a "safe place," according to the military, and has not been seen in public since his ouster on 3 July.
Several political figures, including Egyptian Social Democratic Party leader Mohamed Abu El-Ghar, have demanded Morsi be released as a way out of the current political crisis.
Morsi should "return home, unless he is required to face justice," Abu El-Ghar told Al-Arabiya channel late on Friday.
The US and Germany have both called for Morsi's release.
