A fire caused by a damaged electricity cable in the Cairo district of Mohandiseen Tuesday afternoon damaged 18 shops in the popular shopping area.
No casualties were reported but damages were estimated at LE 3 million, reported Al-Ahram's Arabic language site.
The fire was reported to have destroyed 15 clothing stores and three coffee shops.
Egyptian prosecutors have started an investigation to examine the cause of the fire.
