Supreme Press Council appoints Ahmed Sayed El-Naggar as Al-Ahram's new chairman and Mohamed Abdel-Hady as its editor-in-chief

Ahmed Sayed El-Naggar has been appointed chairman of state-owned media organisation Al-Ahram by a majority of the votes at a meeting of the Supreme Press Council.

Mohamed Abdel-Hady was appointed editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram during the meeting at the centre of leadership development in Cairo on Thursday.

El-Naggar has previously worked as a researcher at the Al-Ahram Centre for Strategic Studies and as an economic analyst. He was the editor in chief of the Stetegic Economic Trends annual report issued by the centre. 

Abdel-Hady was editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram from February until August 2012. He has also worked as a reporter.

Yasser Rizk was appointed chairman of the board of directors at Al-Akhabr Al-Youm institution.

Al-Ahram Arabic newspaper reported a number of other appointments, including Alaa Heidar as chairman of state news agency MENA and Abdel-Sadek Shorbagy as chairman of Rose Al-Youssef.
