The Giza Criminal Court announced that a verdict over money laundering charges against ‎former interior minister Habib Al-Adly is to be returned on 5 May.‎

Adly is indicted on charges of money laundering and embezzlement. He is also being held ‎‎accountable for the killing of protesters in the first few days of the January 25 Revolution.‎

The judges heard Adly’s defence team today during Monday’s court session, with lawyer Essam El-Battawi stressing to the court that his client kept Egypt safe for 14 years.‎

The session started at 10:30am as Al-Adly and the judges arrived to the courtroom later than ‎scheduled due to inclement weather.‎
