The director of a charity organisation in the governorate of Daqahliya was sacked on Saturday after he brought in four fake grooms to a wedding ceremony for orphaned young people.

According to Al-Ahram Arabic news website, the wedding was organised by Al-Orman charity association and involved 22 couples. It was attended by Daqahliya’s governor to mark the annual orphanage day.

However, four of the grooms had to travel "for an emergency" which forced the association's director to replace them with “extras.”

Following investigations, Al-Orman issued an apology stressing that the incident was “exceptional.”
