Egypt's train victims undergo surgery in Cairo

Victims of the Samalout shooting are being treated at Cairo's Nasser Institute, where three critical operations were performed

Three urgent surgeries were performed on the victims of the Samalout train, leaving two in serious condition.

The shooting took place last night when Ashour Abdel Zaher, an off-duty policeman, boarded train 979 heading from Cairo to Assuit and opened fire on six of its passengers. One passenger died while the others were immediately transferred by plane to the Nasser Institute.
