Egypt's Public Library in Giza will host renowned Egyptian writer Mohamed Salmawy on Wednesday, 28 February, at 5:00pm to discuss his recently-released memoires titled Yawman Aw Ba3d Yawm (A Day or So).

Salmawy, who is one of Egypt's most established writers, is the ex-editor-in-chief of Al-Ahram Hebdo, the French-language weekly newspaper of Al-Ahram. He has also delivered the Nobel Prize speech of late writer Naguib Mahfouz in 1988, on his behalf.

His memoires were published by Dar Al-Karma.

Salmawy, who was born in 1945, draws in the memoires a picture of Egypt after the end of World War II and until the assassination of President Anwar El-Sadat in 1981. He is expected to release a second volume of his memoirs.

Salmawy has many published works in Arabic and other languages. His Arabic works include the playsI Shall Tell You All (1967), Come Back Tomorrow (1983), Salome (1986),Murderer at Large (1985),Next in Line (1983) and a book of short stories, The Man Who Regained His Memory (1983), Butterfly Wings: An Egyptian Novel (2014), Last Station: Naguib Mahfouz Looking Back, (2008).
