A three-day academic conference on Islamist movements and the transition to democracy in the Arab world will begin in Qatar on 6 October

The Arab Centre for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS), which is organising the event, has invited specialists on Islamic current affairs and prominent Islamist leaders to discuss how Islamist groups will adapt to changing circumstances in the region.

ACRPS, which is run by the prominent Arab thinker Azmi Bishara, aims to broaden research into this discipline and examine the best path to democracy in the Arab world.

The conference will open at the Sheraton Doha on Saturday 6 October at 9:30am.
