Nady Alsayarat (The Cars Club), by: Alaa Al-Aswany, Cairo: Shorouk Publishing House. 2013, 600pp.
Famous author, Alaa Al-Aswany, has finally released his newest novel, Nady Alsayarat (The Cars Club), from Shorouk Publishing House. Al-Aswany started writing this novel in 2008 and stopped writing during 2011 when the Egyptian revolution broke out, which he supported and engaged in.
After visiting a famous car club in German and learnt the story of invention of the world’s first car, Al-Aswany decided to put that story in the framework of a novel, exceeding the limits of reality.
Alaa Al-Aswany is best known for his internationally-renowned novel Imarat Yaqubian (The Yacoubian Building) 2002. His books have been translated into English, French, Spanish and German among other languages. Al-Aswany is the founding member of the Kefaya (Enough) protest movement and was once included in Jordanian Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre's list of the top 500most influential Muslims in the world
