Al-Tanweer publishing house will host historian Khaled Fahmy, chair of the History Department at the American University in Cairo, on Wednesday at 8pm to discuss Sherif Younis’s reprinted book Al-Zahf Al-Moqaddas: Mozaharat Al-Tanahy wa Ebadat Abdennaser (The Sacred March: The Step Down Protests and Worshipping Abdel-Nasser).

Sherif Younis is a history professor at Helwan University. He has authored several books including Nidaa Al-Shaab, (The Call of the People), Massarat Al-Thawra (Paths of the Revolution), Sayed Kotb wa Al-Osolya Al-Islamiya (Sayed Kotb and Islamic Fundamentalism).

Younis is also a renowned translator; he has translated two books by Khaled Fahmy, All The Pasha’s Men and The Body and Modernity: Essays in the history of medicine and law in Modern Egypt. He also translated Timothy Mitchell’s book The Rule of Experts, with Bashir El-Sebai.

The Sacred March analyses the mass marches that took to the streets after the 1967 war that called on President Abdel Nasser to retreat from his decision to step down after the shameful loss in the 6 days war. The book was published for the first time in 2005 and was reprinted in 2013 by Al-Tanweer.
