Al-Mafahim Al-Idiologiya fi Magrar Al-Thawarat Al-Arabiya (The Ideological Concepts in the Path of the Arab Revolutions) by: Sohail El-Habib, Doha: ACRPS, 2013, 256pp.

The Arabic Centre for Research and Policy Studies (ACRPS) has released a new book, entitled Al-Mafahim Al-Idiologiya fi Magrar Al-Thawarat Al-Arabiya (The Ideological Concepts in the Path of the Arab Revolutions) by Tunisian writer and researcher Sohail El-Habib.

The book, which consists of 256 pages, contributes to ongoing debates on the Arab revolutions that broke out in 2011, with special concentration on Tunisia — the first Arab Spring uprising that was seen as triggering others.

The book concentrates the different ideological trends that dominated the Arab revolutions, tackling the main contradiction between the democratic and nationalist trends.

According to the book, the clash between the two trends jeopardises the political domain the countries of the Arab Spring, and could wipe away all revolutionary gains.

Sohail El-Habib concludes that the democratic transition should be the beginning of an inclusive social transformation process that rebuilds the nation, state, civil society and the values of citizenship.
