US forces launch missile strike against Shebab leader in Somalia

The US military launched a missile strike in Somalia on Sunday targeting a suspected Shebab militant leader, a defense official said.

"It was against a senior Shebab commander," the official told AFP on condition of anonymity, speaking about the strike in the southeastern port town of Barawe. The official declined to confirm the suspect's identity and said the US military was trying to determine whether the strike was successful.
