Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu launched his re-election campaign on Monday with a pledge not to make any territorial concessions to the Palestinians that would harm Israel's security.

"In the coming elections, don't gamble with the security of Israel. Only Likud can ensure your security," he told activists of his rightwing party at a rally in Tel Aviv.

The Likud leader, presenting his list for the March 17 snap election, ruled out "any territorial concession that could threaten the security of Israel".

"The left is not ready to demand that the Palestinians end the conflict and finally accept the Jewish state, but Likud will hold onto these conditions with all of its might," he said.

MPs voted on December 8 to dissolve parliament and hold early polls after Netanyahu sacked centrist ministers in his ruling coalition over policy differences.
