The powerful weather is likely to persist across the region over the upcoming few days according the Weather Channel.
The Syrian war led to a massive humanitarian crisis; around 9 million Syrians have fled their homes since March 2011. More than 3 million sought refugee abroad, mostly in Syria's neighbours Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq, while 6.5 million are displaced within their own country.
