The Tunisian government blocked the Lebanese daily Al-Akhbar website shortly after prohibiting access to WikiLeaks

The Tunisian government blocked a Lebanese daily's website after it published some documents from WikiLeaks.

Shortly after the WikiLeaks' website was, itself, blocked, the Al-Akhbar's website, was blocked in Tunisia after it published leaked US documents, reported the Arabic Network for Human Rights Information (ANHRI).

Last Saturday, the newspaper published several WikiLeaks documents involving Arab states, among them Tunisia, which quickly moved to block the site.

“The Tunisian government thinks that blocking the WikiLeaks and Al-Akhbar websites will deny the Tunisians access to the documents,” said Gamal Eid head of the ANHRI, adding that "this prohibition certainly would be a cause for ridicule."
