The Gaza Strip's Hamas rulers said on Wednesday they will file protests to the United Nations against Israeli air raids.
The move came a day after Israel complained to the UN Security Council over the firing of rockets into its territory from Gaza.
Hamas government spokesman Taher al-Nunu said it will submit "a complaint to the General Assembly and the Human Rights Council and all relevant agencies about ... the threat of further aggression against the Palestinians."
Israel launched a series of air strikes against what it claims were tunnels, militant training sites and weapons facilities in Gaza.
"We will be in contact with several countries to explain the aggressive behaviour of the occupation forces and have been in touch with Egyptian officials to discuss these threats," al-Nunu told reporters.
The UN envoy to the Middle East on Wednesday issued a statement to "condemn the firing of indiscriminate mortars and rockets by militant groups in Gaza at Israel, which has escalated in recent days."
