The UN Security Council is expected to vote Thursday at 6:00 pm (2200 GMT) on a draft resolution put forward by Kuwait calling for the protection of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, Kuwait's UN ambassador Mansour al-Otaibi said.

Diplomats say the United States is expected to block the measure with its veto power.
