At least twenty people died in clashes with security forces in Tunisia, Al Jazeera reported.
In the city of Tala, six died and another six were wounded Saturday after security forces opened fire at the crowd to quell the protests.
Fourteen others were killed in the Kasserine region in similar conflicts between the police and protesters according to Al Jazeera.
The government has in contrast put the death toll at two and the number of wounded at eight after the Tala riots.
The victims in Tala were according to Belgacem Sayhi, trade union activists and teacher, were between 17 and 30 years of age. Sayhi told AFP that they died when the police opened fire on the protestors.
