The sixth annual Dubai Knowledge Summit kicked off on Tuesday, with a focus on sustainable development and knowledge.
“The Knowledge Summit seeks to offer a global knowledge platform bringing together experts and decision makers from around the world to exchange expertise and best practices, and showcase solutions for addressing the challenges facing sustainable development,” read a press release.
This year’s summit covers a range of topics, including the role of knowledge in achieving the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, global challenges such as poverty, hunger, inequality, and climate change, promoting innovation and sustainable consumption, and offering solutions to protect the environment and ensure peace and prosperity for all people by 2030.
The summit discusses also broad themes in the field of sustainable development, including energy, global partnership, health, women’s empowerment, sustainable education, gender equality, and building healthy communities.
The summit will showcase several countries’ plans to benefit from renewable energy sources, build resource-based economies, achieve high productivity through diversification, and adopt innovation as a means to build sustainable cities and combat climate change.
The two-day summit is under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE’s vice president and president and the ruler of Dubai.
