French President Emmanuel Macron arrived in Lebanon Thursday for a snap visit of support following an explosion at Beirut port that killed more than 130 people and caused widespread destruction.

He was met off the plane by his Lebanese counterpart Michel Aoun, two days after a blast that shook a country already battling runaway inflation, mass unemployment and rising poverty.
