Iran welcomes any resolution of tensions in the Gulf, Spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry Saeed Khatibzadeh said Monday.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has already stated Iran's stance toward the resolution of the Gulf crisis, Khatibzadeh added.

"We welcome understandings in the Gulf announced by Kuwait," Zarif wrote on Friday in a message on social media.

Asked about how such a detente in Qatar crisis may influence the Iran-Qatar relations, Khatibzadeh said these ties "are not affected by a third factor."

Iran has kept cooperating with all "friendly countries, neighbors as well as countries in the region," both in times of hardship and ease, the spokesman noted.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt have imposed a diplomatic and economic blockade on Qatar since June 2017, accusing the gas-rich Gulf country of supporting terrorism and interfering in their domestic affairs.

Qatar has repeatedly denied the charges, calling them "unjustified" and "baseless."
