Kuwait's Foreign Ministry has told its citizens to leave Lebanon and avoid travelling to the country because of increasing violence fuelled by the revolt in neighbouring Syria, state-run news agency KUNA reported on Monday, citing a ministry source.

"Kuwaitis ... should not travel to Lebanon under any circumstances," KUNA quoted the source as saying.

At least two people were killed in Beirut in heavy clashes between rival Sunni Muslim gunmen early on Monday.
