One of Moscow's main international airports was briefly evacuated Thursday morning, and around 50 flights delayed, after a fire broke out in the baggage handling area.
The fire at Domodedovo International Airport, thought to be caused by an electrical short circuit, was quickly brought under control, the emergency situations ministry said.
The ministry said that the fire was extinguished around 0545 GMT, adding that departing flights had been affected.
The authorities said nearly 3,000 passengers were evacuated after the fire spread over some 20 square metres.
"Around 50 flights were delayed," the airport said in a statement.
Flights had returned to their normal schedule as of 0700 GMT, Domodedovo said.
